Gardening opens an amazing world of discovery for children to explore, enjoy and
learn about nature, selfsufficiency and culture. Students enrolled in YMWAHA Garden
work with a Master Gardener to learn how to cultivate a vegetable garden, prepare food
using the yield for the garden, and learn about the journey of the food process from
planting to their dinner table. Participants are educated and encouraged to make
practical food choices to minimize the likelihood of health risks, such as diabetes or
obesity, while learning the value of outdoor exercise and improving their health and wellness
by increasing fresh vegetable consumption.
